Lagos, Nigeria. – The latest quarterly list of the top hospitals in Nigeria ranked by Hygeia HMO enrollees has been released. Throughout Q2 2020, Nigerians and the rest of the world fought the COVID19 pandemic and got locked down for several weeks.
This public health emergency stretched the capacities of healthcare systems and saw many healthcare providers suspending care or offering only skeletal, emergency services.
As Nigeria’s premier health insurer, Hygeia HMO continued to provide access to care to all enrollees. By maintaining the tradition of using feedback from enrolees to provide illuminating clarity on the best places to receive care, this ranking provides recognition to the most deserving hospitals.
Hygeia HMO members who participated in the rankings come from across the socio-economic spectrum and thus provides insights into providers that truly serve patients well. Unsurprisingly, all the top 3 rated hospitals were away from Lagos, the Nigerian epicentre of the COVID19 pandemic.
1. St. Catherine’s Specialist Hospital, Abuja
Founded in 2016, St Catherine’s Specialist Hospital is a frequently well-rated provider and reappears in this ranking as number one in Nigeria. Based in Abuja at No 6 Odienna Close, Off Libreville Street in Wuse 2, St Catherine’s is a multi-speciality hospital with expertise in family medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics and urology etc.
2. St. Catherine’s Specialist Hospital, Port Harcourt
This older sister hospital of the top-rated hospital for Q2 2020 was founded in 1999. A true testament to the team’s expertise and devotion to service, the facility’s reputation has soared since then. Located at 14 Trans Woji Road, Port Harcourt, the hospital describes its vision as a “commitment to enhancing the future of their patients and help them live a long and healthy life.”
3. Springs Medical Services, Port Harcourt
Appearing for the very first time in these rankings, Springs Medical Services is at 458 Ikwerre Road, near Rumuokwuta roundabout, Port Harcourt. Founded by Dr E.C. Nwabunike in 1994, the hospital has expertise in General Medicine, Internal medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Surgery.
